Pursuing Your Passions
Discovering and pursuing a passion is no easy task, especially when faced with adversity and challenges. In our club meeting, our guest speaker Lori will take you on a journey, sharing her personal story of discovering her passion as a young girl and the discouragement she faced from adults around her. Despite the setbacks, Lori bravely chose to defy expectations and chase her dreams, ultimately becoming the successful and fulfilled person she is today. In this interactive session, Lori will share valuable insights, tips, and advice for young girls looking to pursue their passions, even when faced with adversity.
About Lori McCleese
Lori McCleese joined the newly merged Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio as the President in July 2019. Although she has been living in Northeast Ohio for over 15 years, she is originally from Cincinnati and holds a B.A. in Personnel & Industrial Relations from the University of Cincinnati. It was while she was a student at U.C. that she first became involved with Junior Achievement, serving as a volunteer teaching fourth grade. Prior to her role at JA, she served two years as the President of the Hudson Community Foundation and six years in Development at the Alzheimer’s Association.
Her pre-nonprofit career was as a regional director in banking, where she witnessed firsthand the need for better financial literacy education in communities. In 2018, she obtained their CFRE certification, the only globally recognized, accredited fundraising certification which indicates professionalism, confidence, and ethics. She completed her Certificate in Fundraising Management from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in the summer of 2021.
She currently serves on the Education Committee for the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Government Affairs Committee for the Greater Akron Chamber, and the College and Career Readiness Committee for the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce.
As a Cuyahoga Falls resident, she has two children: Morgan, a senior majoring in International Business and Marketing at the University of Cincinnati, and Mason, a sophomore at The University of Dayton studying Aerospace Engineering and playing Center on the UD football team.
